Philipp Lahm, the German national team captain, believes that Spaniards have the biggest chance to win Euro 2012 European Football Championships in Poland and Ukraine in 2012.

He said this in an interview for “France Football”. Magazine Joachim Loew took charges for the best team this year. “Our confidence has never been so great. The results are stunning, the game is spectacular and effective, and most recently we were better than such giants as Brazil or the Netherlands. However, that Spain is the favorite of Euro 2012. Four or five teams could dethrone her,” – said Bayern Munich defender.

Lahm also tried to determine the cause of development of the German national team, which last three championship events, always returning with a medal. According to him, football combines a change of philosophy to the work of young talents. “We learned to hold the ball. Each of the players it wants, and everyone wants to attack. Once again, we have made progress. It was always our advantage. The difference is that our game has become more modern,” – said the captain. “With this philosophy, we found a way to work together for many years, while knowing that the coach Loew has a core team consisting of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Sami Khediry, Mesut Oezila, Manuel Neuer and me. It’s important that we are able to support these important players for several years “- said Lahm.

Just before Euro 2012 Qualifiers, 9 people including the father of English footballer Wayne Rooney, were arrested by the police in Britain in connection with the investigation of fraud on the occasion of betting.

Arrests are the result of an investigation into the behavior of Motherwell Scottish footballer Steve Jennings.

In the 1980s and 1990s, the issue of leadership and sovereignty was no longer decided by the powers of the East. At that moment in time, stars came from allover Europe: Arvydas Sabonis came from the USSR, Drazen Petrovic from Yugoslavia, Nikos GaIisplayed for Greece, Detlef Schrempf led Germany, Fernando Martin starred in Spain, and Dino Meneghin – in Italy. In mid-1980s Martin, Schrempf, Rik Smits (the Netherlands), Georgi Gloushkov (Bulgaria), and Uwe Blab (Germany) crossed the gates of the NBA, followed a few years later by a tide of talented players from the USSR and Yugoslavia.

In 1983, the Italians won the Eurobasket title for the first time, beating Spain in the final game. he top scorer then was a New York-born Greek, Nikos Galis. Four years later, he thrilled the world of basketball with 40 points scored when Greece, hosting Eu)Basket, beat the USSR in the final game with overtime. Sided by the play maker Anagiotis Giannakis and the center Panagiotis Fassoulas, he had legendary clashes with Soviet stars the likes of Sabonisi Vladimir Tkachenko, Sarunas Marciulionis, nd Valdis Valters.

In 1985, the three-point line debuted in the EuroBasket (introduced in 1984, three ears after the NBA), which found immediate reflection in the number of points cored. The USSR team provides a good illustration for the change. The 1985 champions scored 107 p and their 21 year-old center Arvydas Sabonis, then in is prime days (before the plague of knee injuries), was particularly skilful at in wailing himself of the scoring opportunities regulation gave.

In 1989 and two years later, the team of Yugoslavia, bringing together players from Serbia, Groatia, Slovenia and Bosnia for the last time, was unmatched. Drazen etrovic wasthe most outstanding player of both tournaments with stars such as Toni Kukoc, VladeDivac or Dino Radja following suit.

The biggest surprise of the 1990swas the victory of Germany, hosting the 1993 EuroBasket Tile Serbian coach Svetislav Pesic did a splendid job preparing the erman national team, even though he had to do without its greatest star, Detlef Schrempf. The outcome of the final clash against Russia was decided in the last ction of the game, when Christian Welp, later voted MVP of the tournament.

In 1995 in Athens, Yugoslavia regained the title after a breathtaking final battle Jught by the greatest stars of the time. The playmaker AleksBndar Djordjevic hit in three-pointers, scoring 41 points in total, and leading his team to a 96:90 victory over Lithuania. The outstanding individual performance of Marciulionis, who ad 32 points, 6 assists and 6 rebounds,.did not save the Balticteam;

The Yugoslavian team triumphed again two years later in Barcelona. However, in 1999 in Paris they were surprisingly overcome in the semi-finals by the Italians. In 1e final match, the team from the Apennine Peninsula, headed by a Yugoslavian Bogdan Tanjevic, beat Spain (six silver medals and still awaiting gold). The lading players of the champions included Gregor Fucka of Slovenian origin, the Dndon-born CarltonMyers, and Andrea Meneghin, son of the 1983 champion.

The distribution of Euro 2012 tickets will be a complex process for fans. They do not have the opportunity to buy the tickets directly at the venues, but only via the internet and the official UEFA Euro 2012 tickets portal.

However, the crucial stages are now behind us. Football fans from all over the world, including soccer fans from the west, have had the chance to register and apply for the tickets to watch the best of European football. We have been notified about the results of the lottery which took place in all the cases when the demand for particular matches exceeded their supply.

But what if I have not been so successful and I did not get drawn? I still have at least one chance to obtain the Euro 2012 tickets .

First, I can wait until UEFA will have launched another website, to re-distribute the remaining tickets – abandoned, unpaid or left from other sources. But the quickest way is to look up the unofficial Euro 2012 fan to fan tickets exchange portals. They are available now. Football fans can resign from, sell or look for the tickets for particular matches that they want to watch or Follow My Team or Venue Series packs which allow to see more matches – that of your favourite team or all the games that are played on the particular stadium, respectively.

Enough was enough for Teddy Sheringham. After six trophy-less years at Tottenham, the striker has quit his beloved Spurs and headed for Man United – and for one reason – to win. Teddy Sheringham will begin his 15th season in English League football in August and he is still looking for his first major honour.

That very fact is the reason why he England striker left Tottenham, he club he idolised as a boy, to join Manchester United. The desire to end his career with a couple of winners medals.

The 31-year-old striker had grown increasingly frustrated at Spurs’ lack of silverware in his time at the club, and with perhaps only four or five years left of his playing career, he was desperate to add some medals to his well-deserved international recognition.

“I came to Tottenham because I wanted to win things but it didn’t happen,” shrugs Teddy. “It was unrealistic to expect Spurs to win the League. It takes the best players to do that – people like Adams, Shearer and Keane – and it bothered me that the club we’re not signing those sort of players.

“I haven’t won anything in my career and I desperately want to have some winners’ medals to show at the end of my football life. It’s about time I did. “That is why I have come to Manchester United. They are the biggest and the best in Britain. “Obviously there is the added bonus of competing in the European Cup and I am really looking forward to the challenge.” With Argentine star Gabriel Batistuta and Middlesbrough’s Brazilian ace Juninho being touted as the replacements for Old Trafford legend Eric Cantona, United fans were shocked to find that Alex Ferguson had signed England international Sheringham. But the former Millwall striker isn’t daunted by the prospect of following in the footsteps of the King of the Reds

“I’m sure people will make comparisons between Eric and me but I can only do my best as a player and hopefully that will be good enough for United,” he says. “The challenge doesn’t worry me. If I didn’t think I could handle it I wouldn’t be here.”

Ironically Sheri will make his League bow in the red of United at White Hart Lane as the Champions kick off their defence of the title with a trip to Tottenham on the first day of the new season. “What a great fixture that is, eh! he says. “I’m really looking forward to that one – and the Charity Shield. It should be an exciting start to the season.”

One that Teddy hopes will lead to some silverware – at last. Meybe end his career with a couple of winners medals.

IS THE EUROPEAN CUP GOING TO BE UNITED’S BIG TARGET AGAIN THIS YEAR?

It is the one we all want, but that’s only because we haven’t managed to win it yet. That competition will be tougher this time, with extra teams involved, but we have to be confident after last season when we went so close. I still think that the Premiership is the competition we will be judged by though.”

OLE: “I don’t like to look ahead as far as the European Cup. We have a lot of league games before that competition even starts and you alway have to look at the next game as the most important. The league must be our priority until European competition starts:’
CAN UNITED GET BETTER THAN LAST SEASON DESPITE THE FACT THAT ERIC CANTONA HAS LEFT? PETER: “We have a very strong side this season. You could have looked at us in the Charity Shield Wembley and said that we didn’t play particularly well, but that was just a pre-season game. There was still a week to go until the start of the season. I did not feel at my very best at Wembley and I’m sure a lot of the lads felt the same way:”

“At Manchester United we are always striving to get better, but then so is everybody else. The championship race should have a few good teams involved this season and that will just serve to make our task harder:”

HOW GOOD IS TEDDY SHERINGHAM?
OLE: “He has looked a great player in training so far. His move to the club might mean that there is another guy here
battling for one of the front positions, but that can only be good for Manchester United as a whole. t~ From a personal’ point of view, I can only learn from experienced
